I TELL EVERYBODY I grew up in Green Bay. Even if they don't know where it is, everybody's heard of it, and it's a lot easier than trying to explain where Manawa is, even though I haven't lived in Green Bay since I was seven years old.
These photos are not specifically what I remember of Green Bay. My memories of Green Bay are of the 800-block area of Roosevelt Street, the public park on the corner of the block, and Roosevelt School, which the city of Green Bay bashed down without so much as a phone call to ask if that was okay with me.
These photos are instead a collection of post cards showing the landmarks and scenery, such as they are, of Green Bay. When I find a photo of Roosevelt School, I will attain post card nirvana, and my collection will be complete. However, there are so many post cards of Green Bay, and that alone is pretty mind-boggling, that I may just continue to collect them out of habit.
